O I L   A N D   I N K

Since 2008, poems by Paul Celan have been the motive for series of works; paintings and ink drawings

The series Am Rande der Nacht are named after the poem by Rainer Maria Rilke

My paintings are inner landscapes. They bring a dim subconsciousness to the light, into which I allow the colours and light darkness of Celan’s language to permeate. HJA Hofland, journalist, writer: “In the abstract expressionism of Jan Mulder I recognise the description of a dream.”
